Saxophonist Benjamin Herman and guitarist Anton Goudsmit have played together in New Cool Collective for years and have celebrated success with their own groups. Now they will perform as a duo.

For years Benjamin Herman and Anton Goudsmit have played together in one of the best known jazz groups in The Netherlands, New Cool Collective. Both of them have celebrated success independently with their own groups: the saxophonist in his Benjamin Herman Trio and Quartet, and the guitarist in The Ploctones. Now they will perform together again, as a duo.

Alto sax player Benjamin Herman is one of the best known and best dressed jazz musicians of The Netherlands. Following a period in New York he founded New Cool Collective in 1994 and the group has been successful to this date. ‘Herman is an alto saxophonist with a penchant for hyperkinetic jazz, not to mention a wicked sense of humor’ (Downbeat).

Anton Goudsmit has been hailed as ‘the most amusing guitarist in The Netherlands’, because of his expressive an infectious style. With his band The Ploctones he effortlessly switches between a wide variety of styles, from jazz and funk to rock or even kaseko. ‘Anton Goudsmit makes you wonder where the fire escape is’ (The Guardian).
