With a career spanning over four decades, Andy Sheppard is truly one of Europe’s leading saxophonists. He’s also one of the few players in the world that can juggle lyrical sensibility with hardcore American post‐bop jazz chops. Now he will perform his original compositions with his renewed trio, featuring musicians he has known for years: pianist Rita Marcotulli and double bassist Michel Benita.
Andy Sheppard collaborated with many greats, including Gil Evans and George Russell. With his trio featuring Carla Bley and Steve Swallow, he has released critically acclaimed albums on ECM Records. Since the 1980s, Italian jazz icon Rita Marcotulli has played with legends such as Chet Baker and Joe Henderson. French bassist Michel Benita has collaborated with jazz heroes such as Archie Shepp and Lee Konitz.
