ABOUT TIJN WYBENGA
As our New Maker, Tijn Wybenga took the space to capture the essence of Amsterdam’s jazz scene. The Brainteaser Orchestra (formerly AM.OK) reflects a new generation that transcends boxes. The music is all written using the Brainteaser method: recording live improvisations by band members and guest soloists, cutting out hundreds of samples and then restructuring them in a new way into new compositions. Wybenga is unashamedly playful, with the orchestra showing great promise for the future.
BIMHUIS COMPOSITION ASSIGNMENT
The fifth BIMHUIS Composition assignment, in our anniversary year, has been awarded to composer-conductor Tijn Wybenga. In honor of fifty years of BIMHUIS, he presents his renewed orchestra and special guests from the musical outer limits. Expect recycled samples, electronics, orchestral grooves, wild improv and spacey soundscapes.
