Support us

and become our Friend.

The BIMHUIS is widely acknowledged to be one of the most important venues for jazz and improvised music in the world. Crowd-pullers such as Brad Mehldau, John Scofield, Joshua Redman and Archie Shepp first performed here in the early stage of their careers, and the BIMHUIS remains a strong advocate for the support of new talent. The venue is, according to Branford Marsalis, ‘One of the two or three best clubs in the world.’

We stage over 300 concerts each year in a program defined as much by its spirit of adventure as by its high artistic standards. The BIMHUIS fosters a close bond between artists, music devotees and its staff.  The BIMHUIS would like to continue to set the benchmark for programming and maintain its support for new talent well into the future. Which is why we need your help.

Donating will allow you not only to support our mission, but also to share in our success.

Your donations are accepted with gratitude.

How can you support us?

  1. Become a Friend of the BIMHUIS

Would you like to join our dedicated circle of friends by making a monthly or annual donation? Please fill in the form (which you can download HERE) and return it to Stichting Jazz Amsterdam, Antwoordnummer 990, 1000 RA AMSTERDAM. Alternately, ask for a copy of the form at our box office, where you can make your donation in cash or by debit card. Alternatively, you can arrange a bank transfer to NL21 ABNA 0575 3743 06 in the name of Stichting Jazz Amsterdam.

As a Friend, you will receive:

  • Free entry to select concerts each year
  • Invitations to special events

As a Friend Plus (donating €250 or more a year), you will also receive:

  • A guided tour on registration
  • The book BIMHUIS: Stories of Twenty-five Years at the BIMHUIS, edited by Kevin Whitehead

We welcome one-off donations as well, no matter how modest.

The BIMHUIS has been designated a “Public Benefit Organization” (ANBI) by the Dutch tax authorities. Consequently, donations to the BIMHUIS are exempt from gift and inheritance tax. The entire amount of your donation will go towards supporting the BIMHUIS in its aims.

A wonderful new tax measure has been running for the past few years in relation to cultural donations. It involves a multiplier that allows you claim income tax deductions for 25% more than the amount of your donation; in other words your donation is 125% deductible.

An example of how this works:

Say you donate €1,000 each year for the next five years. Your deductible amount per year is 1.25 x €1,000 euros = €1,250. A 52% tax refund rate = €650. So you will actually have paid €350 a year, while we will have received the full €1,000. At a refund rate of 42%, you will have paid €475; and at 33%, €587.50.

  1. Would you like to do more, or make a different arrangement?

How about setting up a trust of your own in our name? Or including the BIMHUIS in your will? There are lots of ways to support us, and we would be glad to go through the options with you.
