De Engelse saxofonist Tobias Delius is op het eerste gehoor een man van het grote gebaar, die de taal van de Amerikaanse tenorhelden beheerst en kan uitbarsten in onvervalst gepassioneerde solo’s. Toch wijkt hij meestal af van gebaande paden, bijvoorbeeld met het ICP Orchestra maar ook met zijn eigen bands, die verrassend subtiel uit de hoek kunnen komen. De composities van Delius en cellist Tristan Honsinger dienen als springplank voor het Tobias Delius Quartet, dat al sinds 1990 actief is.
