Debashish Bhattacharya carries raga in his blood: his parents as ell as his sister are singers in the North-Indian tradition, and his brother plays table and other rhythmic instruments. Coming from a classical Hindustani background, Debashish has developed his own style on a remarkable instrument: the slide guitar.
This originally Hawaiian instrument has been popular in India for a period of time and Debashish started playing one at the age of 3. Currently he has developed three of his own versions of the instrument, with which he can reflect a broad range of moods, from relaxing to sensual and exciting. Previously he has collaborated with illustrious colleagues such as electric guitar hero John McLaughlin and dobro master Jerry Douglas.
This concert is a collaboration with Stichting NAAD
